Croydon Apartments PA
This nice turn-of-the-century apartment building had been
abandoned for a few years and was the scene of a rooftop murder a couple of
months ago. The interior was only accessible via a homemade ladder in the rear
of the building but it was worth every effort made to explore it. It's located
at 49th Street and Locust Avenue in West Philadelphia and still has a squatter
or two living inside. The first photo is from the 1920's, just to show how old
the place is. It's all boarded up but the open window around back led us to a
great abandonment. There's still furniture inside and plenty of "party rooms"
where you can relax and have a beer or a smoke. The roof has an incredible view
of the city skyline and the grafitti everywhere is humorous, to say the least.
